These herbal teas have been expertly formulated by our own qualified herbalists using organic, medicinal grade herbs and are unique to HealthWise. The range includes:
Cold & Flu Tea
A feel-good blend of echinacea, yarrow, elder flowers, thyme, licorice and ginger.
Cool, Calm & Collected Tea
A relaxing (non-sedating) blend of lemon balm, lemon verbena, lemon myrtle, chamomile, passiflora, vervain and cinnamon.
Detoxification Tea
A purifying blend of burdock root, nettle, oregon grape, clivers, peppermint and ginger.
Digestive Tea
A delicious blend of peppermint, chamomile, ginger, cinnamon, aniseed and chen pi (mandarin peel).
Kidney Tea
A cleansing blend of buchu, echinacea, couch grass, uva ursi and licorice.
Brewing the perfect cup of herbal tea
Tea pot or closed tea cup: Add one to two level teaspoons of loose leaf tea per cup (in a strainer if you have one). Simmer in a closed pot for 5-10 minutes.
Plunger: Add one to two level teaspoons of loose leaf tea per cup. Allow 10 minutes to infuse.
What do each of the herbs do?
Aniseed: Reduces spasm and colicky pain. An aromatic digestive that will help reduce bloating and gas.
Baical Skullcap: Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic. Very effective in allergic skin conditions such as hives & eczema.
Buchu: A urinary antiseptic for infections of the kidneys and urinary tract.
Burdock: A blood cleansing (depurative) herb, which improves detoxification and encourages blemish-free skin.
Chamomile: Exerts a calming effect on the digestive and nervous system, reduces gas production, intestinal spasm and colicky pain.
Chen pi (Mandarin peel): Has a relaxant effect on the gut, reducing spasm and improving digestion. An aromatic digestive.
Cinnamon: An aromatic digestive that helps to reduce gas build-up and intestinal spasm. Also has a balancing effect on blood sugar, which helps to regulate energy and metabolism.
Couch Grass: A diuretic and urinary demulcent, used for inflammation of the urinary tract.
Crataeva: Anti-inflammatory and a tonic for the bladder. Also used for kidney and bladder stones.
Echinacea: Supports immune function and is particularly useful in upper respiratory tract infections.
Elder Flowers: A diaphoretic herb, which helps fevers and high temperatures by promoting sweating.
Ginger: Has a warming and soothing effect on digestion. Very effective for nausea and vomiting.
Juniper berries: A urinary tract antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and mild diuretic.
Lemon Balm: Exerts a calming effect on the digestive and nervous system, improving mood and sleep disorders.
Lemon Myrtle: Rich in essential oils, giving off a sweet and citrus aroma. Lifts the mood and supports digestion.
Lemon Verbena: Light and floral, this aromatic herb lifts the mood.
Licorice: A demulcent herb, which will sooth an inflamed sore throat and add a pleasant taste to any formula.
Nettle: Anti-allergic and depurative, improving detoxification and inflammatory conditions.
Oregon Grape: Traditionally used in chronic skin conditions, due to anti-inflammatory and depurative actions.
Passionflower: Reduces anxiety and calms an active, nervous mind. Often used for stress and insomnia.
Peppermint: Calms upset digestion, reducing spasm and colicky pain. Very effective for reducing nausea. Has a cooling and soothing effect.
Thyme: An expectorant that can be very useful for a productive cough (i.e. coughing up phlegm). Also antibacterial.
Uva ursi: A urinary antiseptic for astringent for problems down below involving infections.
Vervain: A nervine tonic used for stress, anxiety and depression.
Yarrow: A diaphoretic herb, which helps fevers and high temperatures by promoting sweating.
