Nut smoothie (WF, GF, DF)

A quick, easy and nutritious breakfast meal for hot summer days.IMG 0441


Ingredients:

  • ½ cup mixed raw nuts and seeds (e.g. almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pepitas)
  • ¼ of a paw paw or ½ cup berries in season
  • 1 banana (frozen or fresh)
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ½ cup water (more can be added to make a thinner smoothie)
  • 1 tablespoon molasses or honey
  • 1 teaspoon carob powder (optional)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • 1 dessertspoon slippery elm powder (optional)
  • 1-2 scoops low-reactive protein powder (optional)
  • Ice (optional)

Method:

  1. Blend all ingredients together with a stick blender.

This recipe is very soothing for inflamed digestive conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or diarrhoea.
